Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing or using the PetPaw mobile application (the "App") or visiting petpaw.club, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

PetPaw provides smart pet monitoring including live camera streaming, two-way audio, a remote treat dispenser, a pet health record manager with medication and vaccination reminders, an event calendar, a map of nearby pet services and a local weather forecast, plus an AI-powered pet-care assistant.

The App is free. Every feature listed above works without paying anything, except the AI features described in Section 3. Live camera, two-way audio and the treat dispenser additionally require a compatible PetPaw hardware device, sold separately.

3. PetPaw Premium — the AI assistant subscription

PetPaw Premium unlocks the AI features: the assistant chat, the AI-generated PDF health report, automatic titles for health records, the normal-weight estimate, the assistant’s background memory and daily proactive care tips. All other features stay free whether or not you subscribe. Free accounts may occasionally receive an AI care tip as a preview (at most one every three days).

Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Google Play, with an annual and a weekly plan. The price and billing period are shown in the App and on Google Play before you confirm the purchase; the amount is charged to your Google Play account and the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it before the period ends. You can cancel at any time in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions; cancelling stops future renewals and Premium stays active until the end of the period already paid. Refunds are handled by Google under Google Play’s refund policy. We confirm your subscription with Google Play to unlock Premium on your account.

Using your own AI provider. Instead of subscribing, you may enter your own API key for a supported AI provider in Settings → AI provider. AI features then work without Premium; requests go directly from your phone to that provider, which bills you under its own terms, and PetPaw is not a party to that relationship.

4. AI Health Assistant — Important Disclaimer

The AI assistant is provided for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment. Its answers are generated by a language model and may be incomplete or wrong.

Always consult a qualified veterinarian for any health concerns. Do not delay professional veterinary advice based on AI responses. In an emergency, contact an emergency vet clinic immediately.

PetPaw accepts no liability for decisions made based on AI assistant responses.

5. User Responsibilities

• You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App; if you are below the age of digital consent in your country, you need a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of pet health data entered.
• You must not use the App for any unlawful purpose.
• You must not reverse-engineer, modify or misuse the App or hardware, and you must not attempt to bypass the subscription check or abuse the AI service (for example by automated requests).
• You must not use the App to monitor individuals without their consent.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, logos and software are the property of PetPaw or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce or distribute materials without prior written consent.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PetPaw shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, service interruptions, data loss, or harm to your pet resulting from reliance on App features. The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that consumer-protection law grants you and that cannot be waived.

8. Third-Party Services

The App relies on Google services (Google Sign-In, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Play Billing), on an AI provider (DeepSeek by default, reached through our servers; or the provider you configure with your own key), on the OpenStreetMap Overpass API and on MET Norway weather data. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms. PetPaw is not responsible for third-party practices.

9. Privacy

Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will update the “Last updated” date. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts.
